VanGuard 1278ZB Stereo Zoom Microscope with Trinocular Head and Boom Stand, 10X Eyepiece, 0.7X - 4.5X Objective, 110V, 7X - 45X MagnificationVanGuard 1278ZB Stereo Zoom Microscope with Trinocular Head and Boom Stand, 10X Eyepiece, 0.7X - 4.5X Objective, 110V, 7X - 45X Magnification Detail :

The VanGuard 1278ZB stereo zoom microscope features a trinocular viewing configuration with two eyepieces to ease eye strain and provide a comprehensive view, and a third head to connect to an external monitor or camera, a magnification range of 7.0X to 45.0X (6.5:1), and a boom stand that adjusts for 415 mm of horizontal travel, and 300 mm of vertical travel. This microscope enhances object or image resolution with a stereo optical system that produces three-dimensional images. It is commonly used for inspection and dissection in research and for industrial applications.

This microscope has a primary zoom magnification range of 0.7X to 4.5X, with total magnification range of 7.0X to 45.0X (6.5:1) and no fixed intervals, for precision viewing of points within range. The binocular eyepieces are fixed vertically at 45 degrees, and rotate 360 degrees. Rubber eyecups block out external light interference. The microscope has 55-90 mm interpupillary adjustment for individual eye spacing, and - 5 to + 5 dioptric adjustment capabilities, which compensate for differing viewing abilities between each eye. A 93 mm working distance (WD) between the stage and eyepiece, 10X widefield eyepiece magnification, and a 20 mm eyepiece field diameter support a range of application abilities. Its pod ring interior diameter (ID) is 85 mm. The zoom feature works with smooth-turning, dual, side-mounted controls. A black and white reversible contrast stage plate aids viewing. Two stainless steel, spring-loaded stage clips lock on for durability. Dual, knurled adjustment knobs control focusing. It has a rack and pinion assembly for precise control, a slip clutch mechanism, and a tension control mechanism to protect the gears. The microscope has a stain resistant and durable cast metal body with an enamel finish, and anti-skid rubber feet to prevent slipping. It includes a spare fuse, two rubber eyecups, a dust cover, and instructions. The 1278ZB comes with five-year mechanical and optical warranties, and a one-year electrical warranty.

The 1278ZB microscope overall dimensions are 815 x 240 x 420 mm (H x W x D), and base dimensions are 240 x 260 mm (W x D). The boom stand has 415 mm of horizontal travel, and a 300 mm vertical travel. The unit weighs 11.6 kg. It works with a 1.0A, 250 volt fuse (included), and a 110-volt power source for illumination, and comes with a six-foot power cord.

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying viewing abilities. A trinocular eyepiece is used to output digital images to an internal or external device such as a camera or monitor. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also use LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

Vee Gee Scientific manufactures laboratory equipment and supplies, and makes the VanGuard brand of products. The company, founded in 1981 and headquartered in Kirkland, WA, offers scientific equipment for educational, research, clinical, and industrial applications.
